I want to start a new channel on youtube that will review Indian movies, provide the latest news and gossip in the Indian Film Industry. But I’m sick and tired of the word "BOLLYWOOD" (initially coined by a UK film critic). Most intellectual people are apalled by the word here in India. Can some one please suggest me some names that are innovative, cool, appeal to western sensibilities and are yet BOLLYWOOD-free?

There are many movie review shows in the US and the UK and I’m sure it is the same on Indian TV. The review concept is something that has already been worked to death

Hollywood Undead: Who Knew Music Could Get This Bad?

Usually people who love music (like myself) tend to like to write about music they love (for me that would be musical legends like The Who, Blur, & The Zombies.) But sometimes it’s fun to talk about bad music. In fact in some ways it’s more fun. And it’s certainly much easier to find. Just check out MySpace bands to see what I mean. The worst thing to me is that most of the absolute worst music I’ve heard on MySpace is also the most popular.

Hollywood Undead has to be the best example of this. They are unbelievably bad and even more unbelievably popular. I know it’s nothing new for “the kids” to love crap music, but I think Hollywood Undead just takes that concept too far? Usually the really awful music in the past had some sort of musical quality to it. I mean Milli Vanilli may have been cheesey but it sure as hell was catchy at least.

But they are just one of many awful “artists” in the world of awful music

How about Dierks Bentley? Have you heard this fluff? He’s incredibly bad. I had heard his name before but had never listened to his music before as I have no interest in country pop but one day I came across his latest single “Feel That Fire” and I was just floored because it was so much worse than I thought it would be. And that really is saying a lot because I thought it would be flat out horrendous. But no, it’s far worse than that.

It’s no big deal that guys are releasing awful music. There is absolutely nothing new about that. The big deal to me is that so many people actually think this is good music. Why is that? Why are people just so incredibly clueless about what constitutes quality?

American Idol is the easy to blame culprit. And I’m sure that does have a part to play. It’s taught people that the only thing that matters in music is having a pretty voice.

But I’m sure it must go much deeper than that. Of course it’s not like people being into awful music is a new thing. The masses are always attracted to the easy to swallow garbage that usually fills the top 40 every week. And it’s the true music that real music lovers listen to and that lasts for years.

Obviously there will be no one listening to anyone from American Idol or Hollywood Undead in 25 years (except out of pure nostalgia or as a joke) while people will still be listening the music of true musical artists like The Doors & Jimi Hendrix.

How a Turbo Works

How exactly does a car’s turbo work? What does it do, and why the all the fuss over turbochargers?

A Turbocharger is a forced induction system. Basically, as the name suggests, it is a power enhancement. Turbo’s are used to give a greater torque on a smaller engine. They can improve the fuel efficiency and reduce the exhaust emissions as well as performance.

Turbochargers compress the air flowing into the cylinders. The used air and fuel mixture from your cars engine is effectively recycled when it is returned to the cylinders from the exhaust manifold. From the manifold this mixture of gases, fuel and oxygen is forced through a turbine which in turn spins an air pump in the turbo housing. The turbine in the turbocharger can spin of speeds of up to 150,000 rotations per minute (rpm). This mixture of gases, fuel and oxygen are very hot as they are actually being returned to the engine from the exhaust system.

Compressing the air means that there is a larger amount of air being forced into the engine, therefore creating more power. The higher the volume of exhaust gases, the faster the gases drive the turbine, providing more air and producing more power. Once the preset limit is met, the boost pressure is achieved. At this point, the exhaust gas is redirected away from the turbine wheel, thus slowing it down and effectively limiting the maximum boost pressure. This redirection valve is known as the waste gate. This device therefore prevents any over boost from damaging the engine.

The bonus of adding all this compressed air, is that it lets the engine squeeze more air into a cylinder, meaning more fuel can be added. It is then possible to receive more power from each of the explosions in each cylinder. This is then where the power-to-weight ratio for the engine can be improved.

To help reduce the extremely high temperatures in the turbine, many manufacturers are now adding an inter cooler. This is a radiator for air, and is usually situated in front of the main radiator. Some turbo’s also use water-cooling. This is made possible by connecting the turbo to the coolant system, ensuring that the turbo operating temperature is limited by the temperature of the cooling system, which in turn protects the system from any excessive exhaust temperature.

Understanding how a turbo works makes it even more important for car owners to check their existing car warranty documents carefully in order to ensure maximum cover is provided in the event of turbo failure causing damage to your vehicle’s other components. Understanding the how a turbo charger works also helps you drivers understand why car insurance costs rise so dramatically when they try to insure turbo charged vehicles.

It is imperative that the oil supply entering the turbo is full and clean to ensure proper lubrication. If the oil supply becomes too low or contaminated, the turbo unit may become damaged. Large particles can also enter the air stream from the intake, to help avoid this, regularly check the air filter and ducting to ensure that it is clean. It is also possible that engine parts can enter the exhaust system, so regular servicing is essential.
